Sometimes I think that we get caught up in our daily motions of starting our day (and I am guilty of this!) that we don't necessarily stop to notice some of the little things and details.
Below I created a panoramic image of our Middle School and High School Media Center (where my office is located at the far end of the Media Center). I walk across this space many times a day and sometimes forget how much libraries have grown and evolved over the years because this is now the new norm for many schools. Our District Media Specialist has worked very hard for all of the Media Centers in the district to be just that - Media Centers. Not just libraries where students come to quietly get books, but extensions of the classroom where learning can take place in different forms and is supported through a variety of media resources and collaboration and communication is encouraged. Another thing that I think our District Media Specialist does very well in the Media Center is creating an dynamic learning environment - tables, chairs and other items in the room can be moved around to adapt to the needs of the students, teachers, and classes.
