As Earth Day is just around the corner, I thought I would put together a QR code listening center printable. The Lorax is my favorite Dr. Seuss book, so why not have a special space to celebrate it?! Below you will find a link to my QR code listening center resource.

One of the 3rd grade teachers that I worked with asked if I could put something together for when they study penguins. No problem, I thought! But finding books being read on YouTube about penguins was a little more difficult than I had previously thought. I was able to find several books, but the reading levels were not as differentiated as I had hoped. I hope that the 3rd graders enjoy this penguin-themed listening center activity!

Please leave any comments below on how you use these in your classroom or any other ways you use QR codes in the classroom. I always love hearing new ideas! Recently I was talking with a teacher about some activities she could use for one of her new students who speaks limited English. She has been using some other activities that include QR codes and thought it would be a great way for her student to have access to additional resources. I was able to find a couple of good YouTube channels that had good resources for reinforcing the letters of the alphabet, their sounds, and words containing those letters. I put together two different QR code activities to help her have different resources available to her student. She is also working on some QR code activities herself - I can't wait to see what she comes up with! I thought I would share these in the hope that it is something that you might find helpful for your students and will be easy enough for them to self-direct after they are shown once. It could be great addition to any center activity! To download the file, simply click on the button below to download a .pdf file from Google Drive.

Please leave any comments below on how you use these in your classroom or any other ways you use QR codes in the classroom. I always love hearing new ideas! I am on a QR code-creating roll right now! Did you check out and enjoy the Halloween-themed QR code listening center resource as well as the Thanksgiving-themed QR code listening center resource? Do to all the awesome book resources I was able to find, I created a special Fall-themed QR code listening center resource as well. The books found in this resource are different from those found in the Thanksgiving-theme QR code listening center resource. Please keep in mind, these QR code activities are not limited to just use in a listening center though - it is best used when the materials fit within your classroom needs. For some it may be a listening center, others it might be something that can be sent home for an evening listening activity, while others may even find other ways that they would best complement instruction and student learning. Below, I have provided a link to download a file I created with approximately 40 "book cards" with QR codes on them (all related around the theme of Thanksgiving). All you need to do is print out the cards and download a free QR Code Reader app on the iPad (I personally use QR Reader on my iPad). Then the students just need to scan the code and they can listen to the story. The cards have the title, author, picture of the book, book level (when available) and the QR code on them.

Please leave any comments below on how you use these in your classroom or any other ways you use QR codes in the classroom. I always love hearing new ideas! Last month, I shared a Halloween-themed QR code listening center resource. Based on popular demand and request, I will be sharing a QR code listening center activity each month. These QR code activities are not limited to just use in a listening center though - it is best used when the materials fit within your classroom needs. For some it may be a listening center, others it might be something that can be sent home for an evening listening activity, while others may even find other ways that they would best complement instruction and student learning. Based on teacher feedback from the introductory Halloween QR code listening center resource, I have started adding Accelerated Reader (AR) levels as well as Lexile levels (when available for books). This can be especially helpful in listening centers if students are following along with the book so that they can select appropriate books for their reading level. Please leave any comments below on how you use these in your classroom or any other ways you use QR codes in the classroom. I always love hearing new ideas! I have been recently working with a teacher on her listening center activities, so I thought I would share the process for how I go about making a QR Code listening center activity. This is by no means the "right" way to create it, but it is my way! If you checked out my Halloween Listening Center Activity, this is the process I followed for creating that activity. Select Your Books from YouTube
Create a QR Code
Look Up Reading Level (Optional)Based on a teacher conversation and recommendation, I personally have started adding reading levels to any new QR code book cards that I create. This allows students to self-select books at their reading level and may help in overall organization of a collection of book cards. Some of the resources I find helpful when looking up reading levels are: Create Your "Book Card"

Halloween is not too far off, so why not provide your students with some fun Halloween stories for your listening center or other classroom use! You may already be using QR codes in your classroom with iPads or might even be familiar with creating your own QR codes on your own. If so, QR codes for listening activities may be something that would work for you and your students! Below, I have provided a link to download a file I created with approximately 60 "book cards" with QR codes on them (all related around the theme of Halloween). All you need to do is print out the cards and download a free QR Code Reader app on the iPad (I personally use QR Reader on my iPad). Then the students just need to scan the code and they can listen to the story. The cards have the title, author, picture of the book, and the QR code on them.
