On Monday I had a serious case of the blahs. To be honest, I just didn't feel like doing much of anything. So, we changed up our daily activities and learned a new craft for a STEAM activity - wind twirlers made from plastic canvas. I had planned on doing this awhile ago with the kids, but never got around to it. The good thing was that I had everything on hand, so all we had to do was watch some video tutorials (this one and this one were helpful) and then begin creating! There was a definite learning curve for all of us, but it was fun and we can't wait for the weather to get a little nicer so we can hang them outside. The kids also wanted a break from their usual after dinner responsibilities, but they knew they had to earn it. At our house, the person who cooks doesn't have to clean up (clean up is normally the kids' responsibility). So they decided to make dinner (pigs in a blanket, mac and cheese, and a fruit salad)! They worked together and did almost everything by themselves!
The rest of the week was more of our "normal" type schedule except for Friday. My parents took the kiddos out to Grand Haven to check on a bald eagle's nest they discovered last summer. They were able to see the eagle, keep their distance from each other, and spend several hours outside hiking around. It was a nice way to wrap up the week!
