This month I went with a winter theme...even though we don't have any snow right now. The joys of the January highs and lows in the midwest!
3rd Grade
Materials:
- Legos
- Bunny mini erasers
- Posterboard “hill”
Task:
- Students will use Legos to create a sled that will hold one bunny.
- The goal is to create a sled that will travel the furthest down the hill while staying in tact.
- The hill can be propped up on a table or shelf
4th Grade
Materials:
- Plus Plus
- Task Cards
Task:
- Students will work together in groups of 2-4.
- Students will work through the items on the task cards, building with the Plus Plus pieces.
- After completing the task cards, students should take apart their creation before moving on to the next task card.
5th Grade
Materials:
- Paper
- Scissors
Task:
- Students will fold their paper and cut a snowflake design of their choosing.
- After cutting their snowflake, they will test how fast it will fall compared to their peers’ (goal is to have a snowflake that falls fast).
- They can redesign, modify, or create a new snowflake to make it fall faster
